Apple Harvest Begins at Çankırı Agriculture High School

Harvest season has commenced for apples grown by students at Çankırı Şehit Mehmet Ata Agriculture Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, with a projected yield of 7 tons.

The harvest season for apples grown by students in the garden of Çankırı Şehit Mehmet Ata Agriculture Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School has begun. Çankırı Governor Hüseyin Çakırtaş, Provincial Director of National Education Ayhan Işık, school administrators, teachers, and students attended the organized harvest event. Protocol members and young farmer candidates shared the season's bounty by picking apples together from the trees in the garden. These activities within the school encourage the direct participation of young people in agricultural production in the region.

The school has a total of 3 main departments: agriculture, food, and livestock. In addition to 272 apple trees, the garden of Şehit Mehmet Ata Agriculture Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School hosts a total of 496 trees and vines, including other fruit types and a vineyard. At the school, which has a large application area, students have the opportunity to experience all stages of fruit growing processes firsthand, from sapling care to harvest, alongside their theoretical lessons.

Speaking during the harvest, Çankırı Governor Hüseyin Çakırtaş stated that the agriculture vocational high school holds critical value for the city and the region. Çankırı Governor Hüseyin Çakırtaş said the following on the matter:

According to information received from officials, approximately 7 tons of produce are expected from the 272 apple trees in the school garden this season. The harvested apples will be processed and sold across the city with added value, and the revenue generated will be transferred to the school's budget. The high school, exhibiting a successful example of an applied agriculture model, both prepares its students as conscious growers for the sector and creates a sustainable education model by generating income from production.
