The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced that applications for the first period of livestock support for 2026 have started as of September 1 and will continue until December 1, 2026.
Livestock Support Application Period
The application calendar for the first period of 2026, within the scope of the Livestock Support Implementation Communiqué carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, has been officially announced. According to the announced calendar, applications for cattle and small ruminant livestock support started on September 1, 2026, and will continue until December 1, 2026. This comprehensive support program prepared for producers covers calf and buffalo calf breeders in the cattle husbandry category, and lamb and kid breeders in the small ruminant husbandry field.
Cattle and Small Ruminant Application Channels
The institutions to which producers wishing to benefit from the support will apply vary according to their field of activity and their breeder union membership status. Cattle breeders who are members of the Cattle Breeders Union or Buffalo Breeders Union will carry out their applications directly through their affiliated unions. Cattle breeders who are not members of any breeder union can submit their applications in person to the District Agriculture and Forestry Directorates. Producers who want to receive lamb and kid support in small ruminant husbandry must apply to the Sheep and Goat Breeders Union.
Support Criteria and Payment Details
The final support amounts to be allocated by the Ministry are determined according to the animal species, the basic conditions stipulated in the relevant legislation, and the additional support criteria defined for the businesses. Since payments are made based on existing animals that fully meet the technical and administrative conditions in the legislation, entrepreneurs starting production from scratch in rural areas need to evaluate this payment separately from investment grants.
Critical Deadline Warning for Breeders
Officials draw attention to the fact that breeders should not leave their transactions to the last day due to system congestion and missing documents that may occur in the final days of the application process. Before the application period, which will end on December 1, 2026, it is of great importance to update the data in the animal registration systems and the information that forms the basis for support. Producers are asked to complete their applications by checking their ear tag, vaccination, and pedigree records in advance to avoid any loss of rights.
