A pre-harvest field inspection of local corn varieties, planted as a second crop in Edirne's Havsa district, assessed silage yield and planned production support.
A pre-harvest field assessment was conducted on local corn varieties planted for demonstration purposes as a second crop in Musulca village, within the Havsa district of Edirne. The inspection, attended by Havsa District Director of Agriculture and Forestry Ali Doğan and technical personnel, involved on-site observation of the crop development stages in the field of producer Ergün Koç. The silage and grain yield potential of the local corn varieties named Aga and Kale, registered by the Sakarya Corn Research Institute Directorate, were discussed. It was noted that these varieties would constitute a significant alternative in meeting the roughage needs of livestock operations.

During the field study, farmers were informed about the planned production model applied in forage crop cultivation and the incentives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The teams, providing detailed information on support models, stated their aim to ensure producers effectively benefit from these opportunities. Within the scope of the visit program, Özkan Eryılmaz's operation, engaged in vegetable and under-cover cultivation in the village, was also inspected. While the challenges faced by producers in the field were heard, district directorate officials announced that field and control efforts to increase agricultural productivity would continue uninterruptedly.
