The new season harvest for Selendi pistachios, referred to as 'Green Gold', has officially begun in Manisa's Selendi district. As production areas expand each year due to state-supported grafting initiatives in the district, the first harvest of the season was carried out within the borders of Kınık Neighborhood. Selendi District Governor Mücahit Enes Yıldız, who inspected the field operations on-site, met with producers and agricultural workers to gain comprehensive information about the harvest process and wished for a fruitful season.
Geographical Indication and Production Area
A geographical indication registration application has also been completed to enhance the brand value of the product, which has become a critical source of livelihood for the district's agriculture and local economy. With the completed registration effort, the aim is to deliver Selendi pistachios to wider markets and increase their added value. Pistachio production, which is expanding with each period through state support, has become one of the main income sources for farmers in the region, directly contributing to rural development.
