A new initiative has been implemented to boost vegetable production across Siirt within the scope of the 'Effective Utilization of Agricultural Lands' (TAKE) Project, carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. In line with the 'Siirt Vegetable Cultivation Development Project 2026', financed by the General Directorate of Plant Production, fields have been supplied with certified seedlings. The support, distributed to bring idle lands into production, has eased producers' input costs and targeted high yields in regional agriculture. The project has revitalized the local economy.
Within the framework of the project coordinated by the Siirt Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, subsidies were provided to a total of 71 producers in Siirt center and the districts of Kurtalan, Tillo, Pervari, and Eruh. A total of 60,133 certified seedlings, including 17,000 tomato, 17,000 pepper, and 26,133 eggplant seedlings, were procured with a 75% subsidy and delivered to farmers. The seedlings, planted on approximately 30 decares in May, have been meticulously cultivated by the intensive efforts of the producers and brought to the harvest stage.
