TÜRKŞEKER Commences Sugar Beet Procurement at Ilgın and Ereğli Factories

Ilgın and Ereğli Sugar Factories, operating under TÜRKŞEKER, have officially launched their 2026-2027 sugar beet processing campaign season with ceremonies.

Ilgın and Ereğli Sugar Factories, operating under the umbrella of Turkish Sugar Factories Inc. (TÜRKŞEKER), officially commenced their 2026-2027 sugar beet processing campaign season on September 17, 2026, with formal ceremonies. The ceremony in Ereğli was attended by Factory Manager Hasan Ergün and local dignitaries, while the program in Ilgın was held with the participation of Factory Manager Mevlüt Dülger. Speaking at the ceremonies, factory managers conveyed the messages of TÜRKŞEKER Chairman and General Manager Dr. Muhiddin Şahin to the producers and initiated the first sugar beet procurements with prayers.

According to TÜRKŞEKER data, the Ilgın Sugar Factory, which began production in 1982, has reached a daily processing capacity of 8,100 tons of sugar beet as a result of modernization and automation efforts. The Ereğli Sugar Factory, operational since 1989, conducts production activities that last an average of 140 days per year. During the campaign period, the factory processes an average of 1,170 tons of sugar beet daily and produces an average of 163,000 tons of sugar annually, transforming the region's agricultural output into industrial products.

TÜRKŞEKER's 2026-2027 campaign season was launched on September 3, 2026, at the Malatya Sugar Factory with the participation of General Manager Dr. Muhiddin Şahin. Evaluating the production mobilization, TÜRKŞEKER Chairman and General Manager Dr. Muhiddin Şahin stated:

With the commissioning of the Ilgın and Ereğli facilities, the process has gained momentum across Konya. Both factories will continue to meet Turkey's sugar supply by processing the sugar beet procured from producers throughout the campaign.
