International Landscape Fair Brings Producers Together in Sakarya

The 9th PSB Anatolia Landscape Fair, held in Sakarya, opened its doors with the participation of 150 companies and a target of 26,000 visitors, showcasing the production power of the ornamental plants sector.

International Landscape Fair Opens Its Doors

The PSB Anatolia International Landscape, Ornamental Plants, Garden Arts, and Equipment Fair, held in the Kırkpınar district of Sapanca, Sakarya, has opened its doors to visitors. The organization, taking place on a total of 60,000 square meters of open space, features the participation of 150 companies. The fair showcases a wide range of products, from indoor and outdoor ornamental plants to modern production equipment, garden furniture, and advanced irrigation technologies. Held for the 9th time this year with the theme 'Discover Innovations,' the event brings together all stakeholders of the sector in Sakarya and will continue until the evening of September 12.

Production Power of the Ornamental Plants Sector

Speaking at the fair's opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Abdulkadir Polat highlighted the strategic importance of the ornamental plants sector in rural development. Stating that the sector is more than just growing plants, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Abdulkadir Polat made the following remarks:

'The ornamental plants sector is not just a flower planted in the ground or a sapling adorning gardens for us. This sector represents high added value, hard work, and is the dynamo of rural development. Most importantly, it is the sustenance, livelihood, and future for 500,000 families. Today, we have reached a massive production power of approximately 2 billion units annually on 6,500 hectares of land in Turkey. Thanks to the efforts of our producers and the dynamism of our sector, we have strengthened our net exporter position by increasing our exports to $160 million in 2025.'

Turkey's Export Targets in the Global Market

Deputy Minister Polat stated that the global ornamental plants market has reached a massive size of $30 billion. Emphasizing that Turkey currently holds a 0.5% share of this global volume, Polat said that the market share needs to be increased. Polat noted that logistics infrastructure, cold chain networks, and production quality are rapidly being developed across a wide geography, from America to the interior of Europe, and expressed that the Turkish ornamental plants sector will solidify its signature in world markets much more strongly.

Nursery Capacity and Climate Resilience

Polat stated that they manage natural resources and biodiversity with an integrated approach as the Ministry, drawing attention to the risk of drought. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Abdulkadir Polat continued his statements on the subject as follows:

'We have an annual seedling production capacity of 500 million units across 136 nurseries under our General Directorate of Forestry. Some of these species consist of ornamental and landscape plants. Each sapling we grow from over 1100 species means more resilient forests, more livable cities, strengthened ecosystems, and a greener Turkey to be left for future generations. In this period when the climate crisis is knocking at our door, we must use the right species in the right place and build the infrastructure of our cities with drought-resistant species. We are obliged to build our future not on production volume, but on the basis of quality, R&D, innovation, and sustainability.'

Full Support from Local Government to Producers

Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yusuf Alemdar stated that production is supported and products gain added value thanks to the fair organization, which has been held uninterruptedly for 9 years. Stating that they aim to build the city's future with agricultural production, Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yusuf Alemdar included the following statements in his speech:

'We must all work together to give greater meaning to what we do here today, act with our producers in the scientific field, and contribute to our city's future together. With these thoughts, I wish our fair to be beneficial.'

The opening ceremony concluded with the ribbon-cutting by protocol members.

Young Designers and Scientific Panels

The fair serves not only as a commercial meeting point but also hosts academic and scientific events. Throughout the organization, 20 expert panelists will discuss the future of the sector in 4 different sessions. A total of 90 students from 15 different universities are participating in the PMO Young Design and Application Competition, held as part of the events. Young talents have the opportunity to present their innovative projects and design visions in landscape architecture directly to industry representatives and producers.

Trade Delegations and International Interest

Fair coordinator Remzi Adıyaman announced that they aim to host between 25,000 and 26,000 visitors during the event. Adıyaman stated that purchasing delegations from home and abroad are brought together in conferences and bilateral business meetings, aiming to increase trade volume. Adham Habibov, owner of a company participating from Uzbekistan, stated that this is their first entry into the Turkish market and made the following remarks:

'We found partners, people inquired about our products, we made agreements. It turned out very well, it's a beneficial fair.'
