Uninterrupted Planting Allowed for 5 Grains in Dry Farming
· Tarımdan Haber

A regulation published in the Official Gazette permits consecutive planting of five grains on dry farming plots, while support for biological pest control in open fields has been introduced for two different pests.
Consecutive Planting of Grains in Dry Farming
Significant amendments have been made to the principles of crop production support covering the years 2025-2027 with Regulation No. 2026/30, published in the Official Gazette. In line with the new provision added to Article 13 of the regulation, consecutive planting of 5 grain products, namely wheat, barley, rye, triticale, and oats, on dry farming plots has been officially permitted. It was clearly emphasized that the regulation is limited to dry farming plots only and does not introduce general freedom for all agricultural lands. This critical provision, enabling producers to benefit from support, will officially come into effect on the ground starting January 1, 2027.

Double Pest Support in Biological Control
Within the scope of the new regulation, notable improvements have also been made to biological and biotechnical control support, aiming to reduce chemical usage by farmers. In open-field cultivation, if licensed biological or biotechnical products are used against two different pest organisms on the same crop, support will be provided separately for each pest. This dual support step, strengthening pest management in agricultural production, came into immediate effect with the publication of the regulation, valid from January 1, 2026. Thus, the aim is to alleviate the input costs for producers in open-field crop production and expand the scope of support.

Crop Rotation and Inspection Rules in Hatay Basins
The regulation also includes binding articles regarding planned production inspections and regional crop rotation rules. In the Kumlu and Reyhanlı basins of Hatay, for potato and carrot cultivation, irrigated farming rotation has been made valid instead of water restriction rules, allowing for a maximum of two consecutive plantings on the same plot. For production controls, the Planned Production Control Report for the Production Year has been made mandatory for determinations made using Geographic Information Systems and unmanned aerial vehicles. These provisions, stipulating that on-site inspections will be recorded with the Production Year Planned Production Land Determination Report, will come into effect on January 1, 2027.
