Doğuş Çay Secures €100 Million Loan from IFC

Doğuş Çay has secured a long-term financing of €100 million from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to boost its production capacity and strengthen its supply chain.

Doğuş Çay has secured a €100 million loan from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, as part of its long-term investment program. According to statements from IFC and Doğuş Çay, the financing, which includes an 8-year maturity and a 2-year grace period, will strengthen the company's production capacity and agricultural supply chain. The package, expected to support approximately 3,400 direct and indirect jobs in food processing, logistics, and agriculture, will be allocated to increasing potato chip and tomato paste processing capacity, as well as investments in seed production and storage infrastructure.

The company, which works with over 50,000 farmers across Turkey, procures key agricultural products such as potatoes, tea, sugar beet, corn, and tomatoes from local producers. Through its contract farming model, it offers producers market access, technical support, quality agricultural inputs, and predictable income opportunities. Wagner Albuquerque de Almeida, IFC Regional Director for Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services in the Middle East and North Africa, stated that the investment will enhance the competitiveness of Turkey's agri-food sector by strengthening the links between farmers and markets.

Bilge Kaan Karakan, Member of the Board of Directors at Doğuş Çay, stated that the secured financing demonstrates international confidence in the company's growth potential, adding that the funds will support innovation, logistics, and efficiency efforts. Karakan also announced that the company plans to launch its potato chip production facility in Hungary in 2027. With this move, the organization aims to strengthen its presence in the European market and expand its agricultural product processing and export capacity on an international scale.
