At a sustainable agriculture workshop held in Çorum, it was announced that humic acid application, tested in 40 provinces, resulted in an average 30% increase in yield. Following the successful outcomes, it was announced that the project will be expanded to include pastures.
Sustainable Agriculture Summit in Çorum
The Workshop on Soil and Sustainable Agriculture in the Context of Climate Change, directly concerning the future of agricultural production in Çorum, was held with broad participation. At the event, held at the Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Conference Hall of the Hitit University Faculty of Theology, the pressures of the climate crisis on soil health were discussed. In his opening speech, Bülent Kahraman Çolakoğlu, Head of the Education and Publication Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, emphasized that water, soil, plant, and animal resources are indispensable for humanity. Çorum Deputy Governor Armağan Önal, Çorum Deputy Mayor Fatih Özüyağlı, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Hasan Taş, and Çorum Chamber of Agriculture Chairman Adem Özdemir also participated in the event.

Yield Increase Through Humic Acid
Bülent Kahraman Çolakoğlu, presenting the results of field studies aimed at increasing soil fertility, announced that trials were conducted on 5,000 decares of land in 40 provinces with 600 farmers, using 30,000 liters of humic acid provided free of charge from Turkish Coal Enterprises. Bülent Kahraman Çolakoğlu, Head of the Education and Publication Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, shared his observations from the field with the following words:
'What does humic acid do? It improves soil structure, dissolves nutrients, acts as a pH and salt balancer, promotes root development, and nourishes microorganisms. If you ask what came out of the study we conducted last year, let me tell you this: We witnessed an average yield increase of 30%. This is not a fertilizer; it is a natural product, a gift from God. It is the liquid form from the period before the coalification process, after millions of years in coal mines.'
Fifty Thousand Liters of Support for Pastures
Çolakoğlu stated that the scope of the project has been expanded following the positive results from the field, announcing that 50,000 liters of humic acid will be applied to pastures this year. Bülent Kahraman Çolakoğlu, Head of the Education and Publication Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, who aims to increase production in light of scientific data, made the following assessment:

'What we are trying to do is to operate a process where we achieve more productive, higher quality, healthier soil, and more yield with more conscious, smarter farmers. We are trying to do this work with scientific knowledge. If we do it this way, we will be successful. We will increase the amount of product obtained per unit area. We cannot increase our lands every day. Therefore, when we learn to increase the amount of product obtained per unit area, everyone will see that we are doing much better things than today.'
Future Soil Management at Academic Tables
Hitit University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Eşref Savaş Başcı announced that four thematic tables established within the scope of the workshop will examine topics such as soil health and productivity, climate change, desertification and erosion, pastures and animal husbandry, and sustainable soil management. Başcı stated that a comprehensive publication is planned to document the region's agricultural potential and wished for the results to contribute to a sustainable economy. Bülent Kahraman Çolakoğlu, Head of the Education and Publication Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, touched upon the importance of green transformation and made the following remarks on the subject:
'Green transformation, green development, green collars, green skills... Now, 'green' is in front of almost everything because people are scared, they have started to worry about their future. Unfortunately, if we are not scared, if we do not worry about our lives, if we do not have concerns about our future, it becomes very difficult for us to take action.'
