· Tarım TV

As part of a fruit farming project in Van offering an 80% subsidy, 4.5 million saplings have been distributed to 16,000 farmers, establishing modern orchards on 21,000 decares of land.
Projects implemented across Van to increase agricultural production and raise farmers' income levels are yielding tangible results on the ground. Within the scope of a comprehensive study conducted by the Van Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, a total of 4,552,000 fruit saplings were delivered to 16,000 producers in the city with an 80% subsidy rate. Thanks to the saplings brought to life through the support model, modern fruit orchards have been established on 21,000 decares of land throughout the city. This major move, rapidly increasing fruit production capacity, aims to generate over 2 billion Turkish Liras in direct annual revenue for the Turkish economy.
Van Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Turgay Şişman, who conducted technical inspections in the fruit orchards of Tevekli Neighborhood in the Tuşba district, shared the details of the work and highlighted the added value the project will bring to the local economy. Şişman made the following assessment regarding the targets in the field:
With the commissioning of new planting areas, agricultural output and annual harvest volume in the region are expected to gain significant momentum. The Provincial Directorate plans to continue increasing the production momentum achieved in the upcoming production periods. Emphasizing that the sapling distribution program will continue uninterrupted, officials aim for the fruit production areas across Van to expand further with expansion steps, transforming the city into a regional fruit farming hub.
The implemented project is not limited to sapling supply alone; it is being transformed into a fully integrated industrial infrastructure with the addition of cold storage facilities and a new vegetable market to be brought to the region. Turgay Şişman stated that local fruit farming will reach an industrial scale with the opening of fruit drying and storage facilities. Şişman noted that technical personnel in the field provide direct guidance to farmers in pruning, pest control, and harvesting processes, and that subsidies ranging from 50% to 70% are provided for pressurized and drip irrigation systems, and that varieties resistant to drought and climate are selected.
Producers who have transformed their land into modern agriculture thanks to state support are pleased with the subsidies and field guidance provided. Metin Çalışkan, a producer who established a modern apple orchard on a 15-decare area in the Tuşba region, said the following about the ongoing work:
