Sunflower and Rice Harvest Season Begins in Edirne

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ebubekir Gizligider and his accompanying delegation are participating in artificial reef promotion, sunflower, and rice harvest programs in Keşan and İpsala districts of Edirne.
Reef Project and Sunflower Harvest in Keşan
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ebubekir Gizligider, along with Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer and his delegation, is participating in a comprehensive agricultural program in the districts of Keşan and İpsala in Edirne. The first stop of the program at 12:00 PM will be İbrice Port for the promotion of the Saros Bay Artificial Reef Project, financed by the General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture. Following this project, which aims to protect the marine ecosystem, the delegation will proceed to Mecidiye Village at 2:00 PM to participate in the harvest of sunflowers, the region's strategic crop. With the harvest conducted in the field, the agricultural production and yield status in Keşan will be evaluated on-site.
Rice Harvest and Festival Excitement in İpsala
After agricultural engagements in Keşan, the delegation's next destination will be the İpsala district, one of Turkey's most important rice production centers. Following official visits in the district center, Deputy Minister Gizligider will go to the fields at 4:45 PM to personally carry out the rice harvest with the producers. Following the harvest program, the official opening of the 25th Rice Festival and Agricultural Fair will take place at 5:30 PM with a parade starting from the Martyrs' Monument. The event, of great importance for Thrace agriculture, will bring together regional producers and sector representatives.
Direct Meeting and Consultation with Producers
As part of the events in İpsala, a large-scale consultation meeting with farmers will be held at the festival and fairgrounds at 6:00 PM. The delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will directly listen to the producers and record their demands on key issues such as input costs, yield expectations, and water management. During these engagements, which will also include Edirne Deputy Dr. Fatma Aksal and Keşan District Governor Aziz Mercan, both aquatic biodiversity and crop production will be discussed. Officials announced that all regional producers are invited to the harvest and fair events.
