Biodiversity Support for Bustards Launched in Polatlı

The pilot biodiversity project, implemented in Ankara's Polatlı district within the scope of the IPARD-III program, will protect the habitats of bustards while compensating producers for income losses for 5 years.
Biodiversity support, implemented for the first time within the framework of the IPARD-III program, has been launched as a pilot project in the Polatlı district of Ankara. In line with the project, fodder crops will be planted in the bustard habitats and left unharvested for the birds' feeding, while farmers' resulting income losses will be compensated with 5-year commitments.
Providing information on the project timeline, TKDK President Ahmet Antalyalı made the following statement:
We will begin implementing the projects planned for the improvement of bustard habitats, and for the protection and increase of their populations, starting this year.
