Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that special incentives will be provided for agricultural drone and greenhouse investments starting in 2027, aiming to reduce food prices and increase production in the Far East.
Agricultural Drone Era in the Far East
Russian President Vladimir Putin made significant assessments regarding the agricultural sector in his speech at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum. Putin announced that a special legal regime is planned to enable the faster adoption of new technologies in the Far East region starting from January 1, 2027. Emphasizing the priority of using unmanned aerial vehicles in agriculture within this scope, Putin stated that technological solutions should be rapidly tested and deployed without getting caught in bureaucratic approval processes.
Food Prices and Greenhouse Investments
Addressing the high food prices in the region, Putin pointed to the apple price difference between Rostov and Vladivostok as an example, highlighting the impact of logistics and production conditions. The Russian leader noted the insufficient apple supply nationwide and expressed that local greenhouse production needs to be developed to stabilize prices. It was emphasized that creating additional energy capacity in the region and reducing electricity costs to popularize greenhouse investments would directly lower production costs.
Fertilizer Production and Global Trade
Putin described the advanced processing of raw materials in the Far East into fertilizer production as a promising strategy, aiming to strengthen the agricultural supply chain. For products that cannot be produced locally, reducing logistics costs is presented as the main solution. Furthermore, the importance of agricultural cooperation between Russia and Indonesia was highlighted, and it was stated that the free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union would create new opportunities in agricultural trade.
