TZOB Chairman Şemsi Bayraktar stated that the successive frost, drought, and flood disasters in recent years have imposed significant cost burdens on producers, and welcomed the 2026 support increase.
The Cost Burden of Natural Disasters on Farmers
Türkiye Ziraat Odaları Birliği (TZOB) Chairman Şemsi Bayraktar reported that meteorological events in recent years have increased the cost pressure on producers. Bayraktar stated that a frost disaster occurred in 65 provinces last year, immediately followed by drought, and that agricultural production was damaged in many provinces. Stating that the rainfall also brought floods, hail, and tornadoes, TZOB Chairman Şemsi Bayraktar said:
'Our farmers have not seen any disaster they haven't experienced in the last few years.'
Drought Demand and Support Announcement
Bayraktar stated that aid was provided for the frost event and that they presented the drought process to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, with work ongoing in this regard. Emphasizing the importance of support for the sustainability of agricultural production, TZOB Chairman Şemsi Bayraktar made the following statements regarding the increase in basic support:
'Significant aid was provided for the frost disaster. We presented the drought-related process to our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Now, a study is being conducted regarding that as well. As you know, there has been an increase in the basic support received by farmers for 2026. We welcome this.'
