Recent rainfall across Thrace has alleviated drought stress in sunflowers, leading to increased yield and quality expectations among regional producers.
Recent rainfall across Thrace has reduced drought stress in sunflowers, raising producers' expectations for yield and quality. Edirne Chamber of Agriculture Chairman Hüseyin Arabacı reported that sunflower cultivation covers approximately 1.3 million decares in the province. He noted that planting periods and regional rainfall variations directly influence crop development, with some areas receiving 20 to 30 kilograms of rain.
Following Arabacı's remarks on the positive contribution of rainfall, while also highlighting the strain from high temperatures on the plants, Kırklareli Chamber of Agriculture Chairman Ekrem Şaylan shared optimistic assessments for the new season:
Sunflowers will be better this year compared to last year. We hope our producers will have a good year this year.
