TÜRKŞEKER General Manager Dr. Muhiddin Şahin visited the Malatya and Elazığ sugar factories to personally inspect beet procurement and sugar production processes.
First Production Begins at Malatya Factory
TÜRKŞEKER Chairman of the Board and General Manager Dr. Muhiddin Şahin conducted inspections at the Malatya Sugar Factory, which launched the 2026/2027 beet procurement campaign. According to a statement from the institution, Şahin met with producers at the weighbridge and receiving area to oversee the procurement processes. Based on TÜRKŞEKER data, the sugar production line at the facility, which has a daily beet processing capacity of 3,800 tons, was checked, and the first sugar of the year was produced. General Manager Şahin stated that inter-unit coordination is essential for producers to make quick deliveries without delay.
Producer-Focused Cooperation with Local Administration
Following the technical inspections at the factory, Dr. Muhiddin Şahin visited the Mayor of Malatya Metropolitan Municipality, Sami Er, in his office. According to information provided by TÜRKŞEKER, the meeting comprehensively evaluated the contributions of the Malatya Sugar Factory, which has been operating uninterruptedly in the city for 71 years, to the agricultural economy and beet producers in the region. Potential cooperation opportunities between the institution and the local administration were also discussed, and General Manager Şahin expressed his gratitude to Mayor Sami Er for his hospitality.
New Campaign Preparation at Elazığ Factory
After his engagements in Malatya, Şahin proceeded to Elazığ to inspect the preparations at the Elazığ Sugar Factory, which will commence its new procurement campaign on September 22, 2026. According to information shared by TÜRKŞEKER, maintenance and repair activities at the facility were examined on-site, and a technical briefing on yield estimates and campaign targets was received from the factory management. General Manager Şahin noted that a planned preparation period is underway at all factories and stated that they expect the Elazığ facility to contribute to regional producers and the national sugar supply.
