820,000 Fry Released into Kralkızı Dam

To boost aquatic product populations and local biodiversity, 820,000 young mirror carp and common carp fry were released into the Kralkızı Dam reservoir in the Dicle district of Diyarbakır.

Fish Stocking Operation at Kralkızı Dam

Within the scope of the 'Stocking of Water Resources Project' carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, a total of 820,000 fry were released into the Kralkızı Dam reservoir in the Dicle district of Diyarbakır. In the extensive operation, 420,000 mirror carp and 400,000 common carp fry were introduced to the water. The program was attended by Dicle District Governor Mustafa Atış, Diyarbakır Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry Aquaculture Branch Manager İdris İsen, and Dicle District Director of Agriculture and Forestry Deniz Yıldırım.

Contribution to Local Fisheries and Ecosystem

Drawing attention to the region's aquatic product potential, Dicle District Governor Mustafa Atış stated:

'With the release of 820,000 young fish into the dam, we aim to further develop fisheries in our Dicle District, which is located on a peninsula surrounded by dam waters on three sides. We wish this meaningful work, carried out to protect the aquatic ecosystem, increase aquatic product populations, and support the natural life in our dam reservoir, to be beneficial for our district and our local community.'

These efforts aim to create a long-term resource for fishing activities in the region.

Scientific Stock Monitoring and Future Goals

Dicle District Director of Agriculture and Forestry Deniz Yıldırım provided details on the implementation, stating:

'Within the scope of the 'Stocking of Water Resources Project' led by our Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, we continue to support the sustainable ecosystem in the water resources of our district. We are resolutely continuing our work to protect the natural balance, propagate endangered species, and strengthen our aquatic product stocks using scientific methods. I wish these steps, taken to leave richer and healthier water resources for future generations, to be beneficial for our district and our local community.'

Officials indicated that post-release stock monitoring processes will continue.
