Small Ruminant Support Application Calendar Has Started
The General Directorate of Livestock (HAYGEM) has officially announced the commencement of first-term small ruminant livestock support applications for 2026. The calendar, which covers lamb and kid supports, opened on September 1, 2026, with the deadline for producers set as December 1, 2026. This application period, spanning a total of 91 days or approximately 3 months, aligns precisely with the previous year's calendar, which was implemented between September 1, 2025, and December 1, 2025, according to HAYGEM data.
Application Channels and Union Requirement
The operational process for the support application varies depending on the province where producers are located and their level of organization. According to the information shared by HAYGEM, applications will primarily be made through the agricultural organizations to which producers are members. In provinces where there is no breeding sheep and goat producer union, producers can apply individually to the provincial or district agriculture and forestry directorates. Membership in a union is among the basic support requirements, except for regions without provincial unions.
Vaccination Obligation for Lambs and Kids
The Ministry has also announced mandatory health criteria for the basic support payment for lambs and kids born in 2026. To be eligible for the support, all lambs and kids must receive complete vaccinations against peste des petits ruminants and sheep pox. It is a prerequisite that the administered vaccinations are officially recorded in the VETBİS system, with notifications indicating that exceptions to vaccination applications will be applied for certain special areas in the Thrace region.
