TMO Announces New Season Hazelnut Purchase Prices

The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) has set the 2026-2027 season shelled hazelnut purchase prices at 255 lira for Giresun quality and 250 lira for Levant quality. Purchases will commence on August 24th via an appointment system.

Hazelnut Purchase Prices and Yield Differences

The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) has shared the shelled hazelnut purchase prices for the 2026-2027 season with the public. According to the institution's statement, based on 50% sound kernel content, the price has been set at 255 lira per kilogram for Giresun quality, 250 lira for Levant quality, and 245 lira for Sivri quality. Producers will receive additional payments for every percentage point increase in yield above 50%. In this context, it was announced that an additional increase of 5.10 lira per kilogram for Giresun quality, 5 lira for Levant quality, and 4.90 lira for Sivri quality will be applied.

Appointment System and Purchase Locations

According to the announcement made by TMO, shelled hazelnut purchases for the 2026-2027 period will begin on August 24, 2026. Purchases will initially be conducted at 16 locations, and depending on harvest intensity, the number of locations may be increased up to 61. TMO stated that the process will operate on an appointment-based system, and the appointment system will open as of August 17, 2026. It was reported that producers can obtain their appointments from the institution's website, the e-Devlet portal, or directly from TMO offices, and that technical infrastructure and financial preparations have been completed.

Acceptance Criteria and Payment Schedule

TMO also detailed the quality standards required for hazelnuts to be submitted for purchase. According to the statement, products must have a maximum moisture content of 6.5%, at least 40% sound kernel, a maximum of 10% shriveled kernels, and a maximum of 7% defective kernels, with 0.5% foreign matter. It was emphasized that old crop hazelnuts will absolutely not be accepted, and the rate of cracked and broken kernels should not exceed 10%. The institution noted that product payments will be transferred to bank accounts starting from the 21st day following delivery.
