186.5 Million Lira Fines Imposed on Businesses in Food Inspections

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry imposed administrative fines totaling 186.5 million lira on businesses that did not comply with regulations, following over 100,000 food inspections conducted in August.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced that 100,128 inspections were conducted on food businesses across the country between August 1-31, as part of efforts to ensure access to safe food.
Stating that legal action was taken against businesses operating in violation of regulations, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı made the following statement on the matter:
"While 186.5 million lira in fines were imposed on businesses where non-compliance was detected, we filed criminal complaints against 49 businesses. While protecting the rights of our honest tradesmen who do their jobs properly, our fight against those who adulterate our citizens' food will continue with determination."
