A New Era in Agriculture with OVP
Turkey is putting its new roadmap into action to protect the agricultural sector against climate change and related disaster risks. Within the scope of the Medium-Term Program (OVP) covering the 2027-2029 period, the aim is to increase productivity and food supply security in agricultural production. While plans are in place to widespread artificial intelligence and precision agriculture technologies in the field, production plans will be reviewed from start to finish in line with climate data and risk projections. The social and financial resilience of producer families will be secured with the new model.
Early Warning Against Price Fluctuations
A comprehensive early warning infrastructure is being established to prevent price fluctuations in food markets. Short-term and long-term supply-demand balances for agricultural products, export and import movements, and changes in the distribution chain will be monitored in real-time. Relevant institutions will work in coordination to prevent potential disruptions in food supply from reflecting on consumer prices. In this process, fiscal and foreign trade policies will be effectively coordinated and deployed to maintain price stability.
Strategic Products and Domestic Inputs
Planned production will be emphasized in the production of strategic products, taking into account regional water restrictions and local potentials. With an updated agricultural inventory based on the results of the General Agricultural Census, domestic capacity will be strengthened for products with supply deficits. To reduce dependence on foreign sources for key agricultural inputs, domestic genetic resources will be registered and protected. The development of high-yield seed varieties resistant to climate conditions and drought, along with quality breeding materials, will be accelerated with public support.
