Harvesting, packaging, and maintenance training for seasonal agricultural workers has commenced in Akşehir district of Konya, as part of a project supported by international funding.

The Project for Strengthening Seasonal Agricultural Capacities in Rural Areas, launched with financial support from the European Union, is bolstering the future of agricultural production in the Akşehir district. The initiative, carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, with the Turkish Red Crescent as a solution partner, and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Turkey, is attracting significant interest. Expert technical personnel are involved in the Vegetable-Fruit Harvesting, Packaging, and Maintenance Specialist Course opened in partnership with the Akşehir District Agriculture and Forestry Directorate. Participants are not only receiving theoretical instruction but also hands-on practical training in fields and production areas.
Sustainability and Employment in Agricultural Production
The comprehensive field trainings organized aim to close the gap in skilled seasonal labor, one of the most critical needs of agricultural lands in and around Konya. Participants who successfully complete the course are planned to be rapidly integrated into the local agricultural market and supported with business incentives. This strategic step, which increases efficiency in the harvest and packaging chain from field to table, directly boosts rural development.
