Brazil Eyes Historic $69 Billion Record in Soybean Exports

Brazil's soybean complex export revenue is projected to reach $69.3 billion in 2027, driven by increased domestic processing capacity despite a slight decline in seed shipments.

Historic Record Expected in Export Revenue

According to data from Brazil's Oilseed Processing Industry Association (Abiove), the country's soybean exports are expected to decrease by 0.8% to 113 million tons in 2027. Despite this limited drop in volume, revenue is set to break records, supported by rising global commodity prices. Abiove forecasts that export revenue from soybean complex products will climb to $69.3 billion in 2027, up from $60.3 billion in 2026. This market movement in the world's leading producer will directly shape global trade balances.

Domestic Processing Capacity on the Rise

Abiove projections indicate that Brazil's domestic crushing industry will process 66 million tons of soybeans, a historic peak representing a 3.8% increase. The growth in domestic processing capacity will partially reduce the volume of raw seeds shipped to traditional importing countries, particularly China. Consequently, soybean meal production is targeted to reach 50.8 million tons, a 3.8% rise. According to association data, soybean meal exports are expected to grow by 4%, setting a record at 26.3 million tons.

Biodiesel Mandate Restricts Exports

Industry reports calculate that the country's soybean oil production will increase by 3.7% to 13.27 million tons. In contrast, soybean oil exports are projected to decline by 2.6% to 1.9 million tons. The primary driver for this decrease is the mandated increase in the biodiesel blend in fuel by one percentage point to 16%. The higher volume of oil allocated for the energy sector reduces the supply available to the global market while significantly supporting the demand for value-added products from the national industry.
