Chickpea Harvest Begins in Ankara with Subsidized Seeds

The harvest season for chickpeas, whose seeds were distributed with a 50% subsidy by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality across 25 districts, has commenced in Ayaş.
Harvest of Subsidized Chickpeas Begins in the Capital
The harvest season has begun in Ayaş Ortabereket as part of the 50% subsidized certified seed support program implemented by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality's Rural Services Department. A total of 1.5 million kilograms of chickpea seeds were distributed to 4,762 farmers across 25 districts of the capital. Niyazi Zobu, Head of the Plant Production Branch of the ABB Rural Services Department, made the following statement regarding the harvest process:
"We harvested the chickpeas today, which we distributed to our producers at the beginning of February and March with a 50% subsidy. It has been a fruitful season. The combination of a favorable rainfall regime and certified, high-quality seeds has increased yields."
Joy Over High Yields Per Decare
According to the announced data, producers achieved yields between 150 and 250 kilograms per decare due to suitable climatic conditions and seed quality. Drawing attention to the project's objectives, Niyazi Zobu, Head of the Plant Production Branch of the ABB Rural Services Department, stated:
"We are providing this support to reduce our legume imports, support domestic production, and lower our producers' input costs."
Zobu indicated that agricultural incentives, ranging from seedlings to diesel fuel, will continue and added the following regarding the new season:
"We will conduct the tender again this year and will continue our chickpea support for our farmers."
