Local Startup Launches Cold Plasma Era in Agricultural Irrigation

Ankara Technopark-based Loopyon Technology has opened its plasma-activated water system, which purifies irrigation water without chemicals, to a 42 million Turkish Lira crowdfunding campaign via Ecofolio.
Water Recovery with Plasma Technology
Loopyon Teknoloji A.Ş., operating within Ankara Technopark, has developed an innovative system that purifies irrigation water for agricultural production and makes it reusable. Founder Faik Baykuş explained that they utilize plasma-activated water (PAW) technology, which simulates lightning formation in nature within a device. In traditional irrigation systems, the discharge of drained water along with nutrients caused significant economic losses. This newly developed infrastructure completely prevents biofilm formation in irrigation lines, eliminating the need for chemical disinfectants or membrane filters.

Proven Field Performance in Sandıklı Greenhouses
The first comprehensive field validation of the technology was successfully carried out in modern geothermal greenhouse facilities located in the Sandıklı district of Afyonkarahisar. According to company data, these trials documented the elimination of harmful bacteria in irrigation water by 99.99%. Following the field results, the startup, which received a letter of intent for its first commercial sale, predicts that this increase in water quality will boost annual agricultural productivity by 5% to 15%. The system's success in the field establishes a sustainable cycle in drainage water treatment without leaving chemical residues.

Forty-Two Million Target in Crowdfunding
A large-scale investment round has been launched to support the company's growth phase through the Ecofolio platform, authorized by the Capital Markets Board. While the campaign targets 35 million Turkish Lira in core funding, the aim is to reach a total size of 42 million Turkish Lira with the possibility of additional resources. Ecofolio CEO Dr. Melek Demiray announced that they have reviewed over 1,300 deep technology projects from technoparks on their platform in the past year. This crowdfunding process, opened to investors, will continue uninterrupted until November 15, 2026.
Expansion from Soilless Greenhouses to Global Markets
In the first phase of its commercialization strategy, the startup has identified the 22 million square meter modern soilless greenhouse market across Turkey as its focal point. The technology, awarded the Euroinvent Gold Medal, aims to directly reduce costs in protected cultivation operations with high water consumption. After domestic expansion, the company plans to enter the Middle East and North Africa markets, which are struggling with water stress. Ecofolio, which previously achieved a 105% funding rate in a campaign for G&D İklimlendirme, emphasizes that Loopyon will compete globally with its compliance with European environmental standards.
