Hazelnut Exports Hit Five-Year High in Seven Months

Turkey's hazelnut and processed hazelnut exports reached $1.62 billion in the first seven months of 2026, marking a 21% increase and setting a new period record for the last five years.
Record High in Seven-Month Exports
According to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), hazelnut and processed hazelnut exports reached $1.620 billion and 185 thousand dollars in the first 7 months of 2026, marking the highest figure for the January-July period in the last five years. Export revenues, recorded at $1.337 billion and 664 thousand dollars in the same period last year, showed an increase of approximately $282.5 million. This value-based increase of 21% highlighted the strong revenue performance of the hazelnut sector in the foreign market.
Strong Performance in Seasonal Exports
In the 11-month period of the 2025-2026 export season, which covers September 1, 2025, to July 31, 2026, a total of $2.415 billion and 572 thousand dollars in exports were made. While $15 million of this revenue came from processed products, the remaining portion was generated from the sale of shelled hazelnuts. According to data from the Black Sea Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Exporters' Association, 186,400 tons of shelled hazelnuts were exported in the 11 months of the season, generating $2.400 billion and 360 thousand dollars in foreign currency inflow.
Volatile Trend Over Five Years
Examining TİM's 12-month data, hazelnut exports, which were $1.325 billion and 490 thousand dollars in 2022, increased to $1.629 billion and 239 thousand dollars in 2023 with a 22.9% rise, and to $2.639 billion and 346 thousand dollars in 2024. In 2025, due to sudden price increases caused by frost damage, exports declined by 14.5% to $2.256 billion and 307 thousand dollars. In a sector where the increase in unit value has balanced revenues, year-end figures are projected to be below the previous year, in line with the performance of the last 5 months.
