1.6 Billion Lira in Fines Imposed on Firms in Food Inspections

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced that 1.6 billion lira in administrative fines have been imposed on businesses found to be non-compliant during 756,000 food inspections conducted since the beginning of the year.
Comprehensive food inspections were carried out in markets and sales points in Balıkesir with the start of Ramadan, and the latest data on field controls were shared with the public.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı provided the following information, explaining the inspection processes and administrative sanctions applied:
"In the 756,000 inspections we have conducted from January 1, 2026, to date, we identified 254 non-compliances that threaten human health, filed criminal complaints with the prosecutor's office, and imposed a total of 1.6 billion lira in administrative fines. We will continue our inspections without interruption to ensure our citizens have access to safe food."
