Grape Purchase Prices on the Table for Ürgüp Producers

Grape purchase and pricing issues in Nevşehir's Ürgüp district, despite a high harvest yield, were discussed in a meeting involving the Chamber of Agriculture and a Member of Parliament.

As the harvest season began in Nevşehir's Ürgüp district, the problems faced by the agricultural sector and vineyard owners were comprehensively addressed at a board meeting of the Ürgüp Chamber of Agriculture. The main agenda items of the meeting included fresh grape purchase prices, the region's high harvest yield expectations, and the marketing problems encountered by producers. The Chamber of Agriculture management stated that market conditions during this period of productive harvest should not disadvantage farmers and that purchase prices should be balanced at a level that covers production costs.

AK Party Nevşehir Member of Parliament Emre Çalışkan, who joined the meeting via teleconference, listened to the demands of vineyard owners and made statements about developments in the region. Çalışkan noted that the grape harvest yield in the area is quite high this year and reminded that product purchases are made by private enterprise firms. It was reported that official contacts and negotiations are ongoing with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to prevent fluctuations in the grape market and producer grievances.

During the meeting, not only the fresh grape market but also other critical topics concerning the district's general agricultural infrastructure were detailed. The status of the Sarıhıdır Sarıyazı Closed Irrigation Facility project and the Damsa Stream open channel issue were discussed in their technical dimensions. Among other topics evaluated were the correction of erroneous land registry records in villages with property disputes, the needs of livestock businesses, and infrastructure deficiencies in rural areas.

Ürgüp Chamber of Agriculture President Mustafa Korkmaz thanked the MP and district officials who contributed to the meeting, stating that they will continue to be the voice of the producers. The chamber management emphasized that they have been voicing the expectations of grape producers on all platforms since July and announced that they will closely monitor the purchase processes step by step to ensure that the high yield turns into an advantage for the farmers. Full consensus was reached on conveying the identified problems and demands to the relevant public institutions.
