Kınık OTB Becomes Turkey's New Investment Hub for Hemp

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has directed investors to İzmir Kınık OTB, sending official correspondence to all 81 provinces to consolidate hemp, medical, and aromatic plant investments in a single center.

Strategic Decision for Kınık OTB

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has officially positioned the İzmir Kınık Organized Agricultural Area for Plant Production as Turkey's priority production and investment center for hemp, medical, and aromatic plants. With this strategic decision, Kınık OTB has been transformed from a standard area for traditional agricultural production into a high value-added plant production hub where production and industrial integration are fully realized.

Official Directive Sent to All 81 Provinces

As part of the planning conducted by the General Directorate of Agricultural Reform, official correspondence was sent to all Organized Agricultural Area managements across Turkey, the governors' offices of all 81 provinces, the provincial directorates of agriculture and forestry in all 81 provinces, and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB). The Ministry's letter requested that investment demands for the planned, controlled, and high value-added development of hemp and medical/aromatic plants be directed to İzmir Kınık Organized Agricultural Area for Plant Production.

Agricultural Production and Industrial Integration

Kınık OTB Chairman Enver Olgunsoy stated that their region is designed as a center not only on a local but also on a national scale. Conveying the region's vision, Kınık OTB Chairman Enver Olgunsoy made the following assessments:

"The main goal of Organized Agricultural Areas is to bring agricultural production into a planned, sustainable, traceable, and high value-added structure, to bring production and industry together in the same center, and to direct investors to production areas with strong infrastructure. The mission undertaken by Kınık OTB regarding hemp and medical-aromatic plants is built upon this model. Therefore, Kınık's goal will not be merely to be a 'hemp-growing region' but to become a center where production, processing, investment, and industrial connections for hemp and medical-aromatic plants can be established within the same ecosystem."

Versatile Industrial Opportunities in Hemp

In addition to its role as an agricultural raw material, the hemp plant has a wide range of applications in strategic industrial sectors such as pharmaceuticals, health, food, textiles, and biocomposites. With this new model implemented within Kınık OTB, the aim is to process hemp and medicinal plants directly after harvest and transform them into industrial products. This structure will offer a market guarantee to contract farmers while facilitating access to raw materials for industrialists.

Infrastructure Works Nearing Completion

Infrastructure construction is nearing completion in the Kınık Organized Agricultural Area for Plant Production, where the investment profile has been clarified by the Ministry's decision. With the completion of strong logistics and technical infrastructure works, the region is expected to become a center of attraction for domestic and foreign investors. Officials state that all investor applications meeting the legal and technical requirements will be rapidly processed through inter-institutional coordination.
