Gap Between TMO Price and Free Market Widens

Altınordu Agricultural Chamber Chairman Atakan Akça reacted sharply to hazelnuts being bought in the free market for 170-180 Turkish Lira despite TMO's floor price of 250 Lira, calling on authorized institutions to conduct inspections.

Price Gap in the Free Market

Altınordu Agricultural Chamber Chairman Atakan Akça expressed his reaction to hazelnut prices trading in the 170-180 Lira band in the free market, stating that producers are being victimized. Reminding of Ferrero's commitment not to purchase products below the floor price, Altınordu Agricultural Chamber Chairman Atakan Akça posed the following question:

'Despite TMO's announced hazelnut floor price of 250 Lira, why are prices in the free market in the 170-180 Lira band? If Ferrero is buying hazelnuts below its commitment, why is it not being inspected? If Ferrero is adhering to its commitment, who are the parties buying hazelnuts at 170-180 Lira in the market, and why are they not subject to inspection?'

Call for Inspection to Authorized Institutions

Criticizing the sale of hazelnuts bought cheaply from producers at high prices in the market, Altınordu Agricultural Chamber Chairman Atakan Akça continued his reaction with the following words:

'What kind of profit is this, what kind of robbery is this… Enough is enough, you are sucking the blood of the producer. Get off the producer's back.'

Addressing officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Ministry of Trade, and the Competition Authority, Akça demanded that irregular purchases in the market be urgently inspected to protect the producer.
