Irrigation Project in Afyonkarahisar to Generate 376 Million Lira Annually

The physical realization of the Çay Selevir project, which will bring modern irrigation to 38,520 decares of agricultural land in Afyonkarahisar, has reached 36%.
Physical Realization in Modern Irrigation
Field works for the Afyonkarahisar Çay Selevir 3rd Section Irrigation Modernization project are continuing uninterrupted in line with the planned schedule. Providing technical details on the current status of the project, State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) General Manager Mehmet Akif Balta gave the following information:
"To date, we have completed the manufacturing of 24,000 meters of HDPE pipe within the scope of the project. Our pipe installation works in the field are continuing in line with the planned program. The physical realization rate has reached 36% in the project that will serve a total of 38,520 decares of agricultural land."
Agricultural Added Value and Targets
With the completion of the modernization, efficient water use will be ensured, and producers' irrigation costs will decrease significantly. DSİ General Manager Mehmet Akif Balta made the following assessment regarding the economic return and completion target of the investment:
"Upon the completion of the Çay Selevir 3rd Section Irrigation Modernization, we aim to provide an additional annual contribution of approximately 376 million lira to the national economy, based on 2026 unit prices. By continuing our work in line with the planned schedule, we aim to complete the project by the end of 2027."
