According to data from the Tokat Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, the harvest has been completed in the plots established within the scope of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's 'Project for the Promotion of the Use of Local Hybrid Varieties in 2026' in the Turhal district. In the study conducted in Elalmış village and Varvara Neighborhood within the district borders, 1,600 kilograms of local hybrid seeds supplied by the directorate were used. A yield level of 8,000 kilograms was achieved in the silage corn demonstration fields, which were cultivated as a second crop. The results obtained have validated the production power of sustainable local seed breeding efforts in the field.

Quality Roughage Feed in Livestock Farming
This demonstration project aims to introduce local hybrid silage corn varieties to regional producers and to promote their use in the field. According to the statement from the Tokat Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, the field applications aim to meet the need for quality roughage feed, which is among the largest expense items for livestock businesses, with domestic resources. While producers are enabled to directly observe the yield potential offered by local seeds in the field, it is planned for high-performance local varieties to make a long-term contribution to regional livestock farming and feed costs.
