TMO to Sell 5.5 Million Tons of Grains in November

The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) announced it will offer 5.5 million tons of grains to the market in November at harvest-time prices to ensure stability in the grain markets.

November Grain Supply Program

The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) announced that it will offer 5.5 million tons of products to the market in November to ensure supply security and support food price stability. According to data shared by the institution, approximately 1.5 million tons of grains have been supplied to the market since sales began on September 1. The statement from the Turkish Grain Board included the following remarks:

'A total of 5.5 million tons of products will be offered to the market in November. Sales will continue at our harvest-time prices, and no price increases have been made.'

Licensed Warehouses and Direct Sales

According to the institution's statement, grain stocks in licensed warehouses will be sold through the Electronic Product Receipt (ELÜS) system via the Turkish Commodity Exchange (TÜRİB) without discrimination of individuals or organizations. Existing stocks in TMO warehouses will be made available to producers of flour, pasta, bulgur, biscuits, and semolina, as well as businesses in the feed industry, livestock farming, and poultry sectors. TMO stated that it aims to meet the raw material needs of the food and feed industries uninterruptedly through all these channels.

Wheat Initiative for the Feed Industry

The statement indicated that in addition to barley sales, low-quality wheat has also been allocated for use by the feed industry to alleviate feed cost burdens for the livestock sector. The Turkish Grain Board provided the following details in its statement regarding its applications for the feed market:

'In addition to the ongoing barley sales to livestock farmers, producers, and feed factories to increase the supply of feed raw materials, low-quality wheat (for feed) has also been put up for sale to the relevant sectors and the feed industry. Furthermore, considering the logistical difficulties in product supply via the Black Sea caused by the ongoing war in our near geography, 1 million tons of low-quality wheat (for feed) has been opened for sale to the relevant sectors with a 90-day interest-free term or payable in three installments via credit card, to facilitate raw material supply, support sector costs, and contribute to the fight against food inflation. TMO will continue to take measures to support supply security and price stability by closely monitoring market developments and sector needs.'

This measure is planned to balance the production costs of livestock farmers and producers. TMO will continue to closely monitor market developments.
