Livestock Producers Demand Discount on Imported Animal Prices
· GıdaTarım

The Elazığ Red Meat Producers Association has requested the Meat and Milk Institution (ESK) to lower the price of imported feeder cattle from 430 lira to 350 lira.
Increasing Cost Pressure on Imported Feeder Cattle
In the livestock sector, the cost of supplying feeder material, alongside carcass meat prices, continues to be a primary agenda item for producers. Elazığ Red Meat Producers Association Chairman Mehmet Çiçek, in his assessment to ANKA News Agency, drew attention to import policies implemented for many years. Çiçek stated that the imported feeder cattle distributed to livestock farmers through the Meat and Milk Institution are not at a sustainable level for producers due to cost increases, and that businesses face a serious risk of loss.
Producer Calls for Discount from ESK
Mehmet Çiçek noted that prices for obtaining feeder material have risen against the producer. He reported that the live animal selling price, announced as 420 TL/kg before the holiday, was increased to 430 TL/kg citing inflation differences. Pointing out that the primary purpose of the Meat and Milk Institution is to support producers, Çiçek called for urgent intervention from authorities, stating that the institution should lower the live kilogram selling price to 350 TL/kg to ease the market.
