· Tarımdan Haber

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced that a quota of 480,000 head for fattening cattle imports in 2027 has been opened, with applications to be accepted between October 5-16, 2026.
The General Directorate of Livestock of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has officially announced the application calendar and quota distribution for the 2027 fattening cattle imports. According to the statement, a total of 480,000 male fattening cattle are planned to be imported for the new 2027 allocations, excluding public institutions and organizations. This total quota, determined by HAYGEM data, has been divided into two based on the barn capacities of the facilities. Facilities with a fattening barn capacity of 200 head and above have been allocated 380,000 head, accounting for approximately 79% of the total, while facilities with less than 200 head received 100,000 head, representing about 21% of the share.

Applications from breeders wishing to benefit from the male fattening cattle import will begin on Monday, October 5, 2026, and will end at the close of business on Friday, October 16, 2026. Producers are required to submit their applications through their respective Provincial or District Agriculture and Forestry Directorates in accordance with the specified instructions. The Ministry emphasized that facility capacities will be meticulously checked through the TÜRKVET system during the application process. Livestock farmers whose facility capacity information is not present in the TÜRKVET system or whose records are incomplete will not be able to apply for import. In this regard, it is important for facilities that need to update their capacity to apply to the provincial and district directorates before the application period.
According to the implementation principles determined by the Ministry, the import of male fattening cattle will not be directly handled by the breeders. All supply, import, and transportation processes on behalf of the producers who qualify for the quota will be organized through the Meat and Milk Institution. The evaluation of applications, distribution of quotas to rightful owners, and delivery of animals to the facilities will be completed in accordance with the provisions of the published Application and Evaluation Directive. This approach aims to conduct the import operation with centralized planning, protect animal health standards, and ensure that domestic breeders have safe access to the necessary fattening stock.
