In Kuyucak village, Yalvaç district of Isparta, annual grape yield reached 2,500 tons from vineyards expanded with modern irrigation and sapling support.
Harvest Season in Modern Vineyards
Excitement is high for the harvest season in the grape vineyards of Kuyucak village, located in the Yalvaç district of Isparta, which have been modernized with state support. Thanks to the 'Viticulture Development Project in Kuyucak Village,' launched by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry in 2021, agricultural production in the region has gained new momentum. The modern methods and infrastructure improvements implemented in the village, which boasts a deep-rooted viticulture history of approximately 200 years, have brought smiles to the faces of producers. The harvested quality grapes continue to be in high demand in both local markets and surrounding provinces.

Production Capacity Increased with Support
Within the scope of the project, sapling support was provided to producers, and drip irrigation systems were adopted across all vineyard areas. According to data from the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, the vineyard area, previously 600 decares, has reached 2,500 decares as a result of modernization efforts. The annual yield has risen to approximately 2,500 tons, a result of agricultural activities carried out by about 170 registered farmers in the village. Efficient irrigation systems have led to water savings, while the quality and quantity of produce obtained per unit area have significantly increased.

Viticulture Driving Reverse Migration
Emphasizing that quality grape varieties such as Alfons, Michel, Royal, and Blackmagic are cultivated in the village vineyards and that production is the primary source of livelihood, Süleyman Yurtseven, Head of the Yalvaç Kuyucak Village Agricultural Development Cooperative, stated:
'Grape farming has prevented migration from our village to the city and initiated reverse migration.'
Thanks to the developing viticulture activities, employment opportunities in the village have expanded. Many producers who had previously migrated to big cities have begun to return to their lands with their families and participate in production.
