Agricultural Lands Uncultivated for Two Years to Be Leased

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has officially launched the leasing process for agricultural lands that have remained uncultivated for two consecutive years due to ownership issues or migration, aiming to bring them back into production.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has entered a new phase in its efforts to bring agricultural lands, uncultivated for two consecutive years for various reasons, back into production. Following the completion of field assessments for the 2026 production year, the official announcement process has begun for the lands included in the leasing scope. This initiative aims to reintegrate fertile lands, which have fallen out of production due to reasons such as co-ownership, property disputes, rural-to-urban migration, or abandonment of agricultural activities, back into the economy. The identified lands within the scope of the process will be utilized on a seasonal basis, strictly for agricultural activities.

Applications for lands identified and confirmed for leasing will be accepted by the Provincial Directorates of Agriculture and Forestry. Throughout the application process, landowners' property rights will be fully protected, and there will be no transfer of title deeds. The determined rental fee will be paid directly to the landowner. Producers leasing the land will be strictly prohibited from engaging in activities other than the specified agricultural purposes, altering the land's classification, or damaging the soil.

All agricultural lands brought back into operation through leasing will be integrated into the Farmer Registration System (ÇKS). Planting and cultivation activities on these lands will be guided within the framework of the Ministry's agricultural production planning. By bringing idle lands into production, the aim is to strengthen national food supply security and utilize agricultural resources much more effectively. Leasing announcements and application processes for farmers and investors can be followed through the relevant provincial directorates.
