Producers filed 478,000 damage claims with TARSİM in 10 months due to floods, storms, and hail across Turkey.

Agricultural Assets and Policy Balance Sheet

Within the scope of the State-Supported Agricultural Insurance System, a state premium support of up to 70% was provided to producers as of October. According to the figures shared by the institution, agricultural assets worth 1.5 trillion Turkish Lira were covered during this period. A total of 2.4 million policies were issued, insuring 27 million decares of agricultural land and 25.5 million cattle and small ruminants against risks.

Impact of Disasters on Fields and Crops

The natural disaster that caused the most damage across the country was floods and inundations. While agricultural frost events remained regional; hail and storms were effective in May and June in Şanlıurfa, Adana, and Mersin. These disasters directly damaged wheat, barley, lentils, peach, and nectarine crops. Storms and hail were observed in Samsun, Çorum, Yozgat, Tokat, Kars, Edirne, and Manisa, and landslides occurred in Giresun. Summer fires in Antalya, Balıkesir, and Edirne destroyed greenhouse and beekeeping areas.
