Humic Acid Application Boosts Agricultural Yield by 30%

Humic acid trials conducted in 40 provinces in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Turkish Coal Enterprises (TKI) have resulted in a 30% increase in crop yields, with the application now being expanded to include pastures.

Yield Increase in Humic Acid Application

Speaking at the sustainable agriculture workshop hosted by Hitit University, Dr. Bülent Kahraman Çolakoğlu, Head of the Education and Publication Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, shared insights from field studies on soil fertility. Çolakoğlu announced that in line with the protocol yürütülen with the General Directorate of Turkish Coal Enterprises last year, humic acid applications were carried out with approximately 600 farmers in 40 provinces. He stated that field inspections recorded an average yield increase of 30% across different crop groups, emphasizing the necessity of protecting current agricultural lands with scientific methods.

50,000 Liters of Support for Pastures

Dr. Bülent Kahraman Çolakoğlu noted that the Ministry is expanding the scope of its field studies this year, reporting the dispatch of a total of 50,000 liters of humic acid to provinces in seven regions. He announced that the application will focus on pasture areas and livestock-oriented activities in the new period, and that Çorum will also be included in this process. Pointing out that agricultural lands cannot be physically expanded, Dr. Bülent Kahraman Çolakoğlu, Head of the Education and Publication Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Editor-in-Chief of Tarım TV, stated:

We cannot increase our lands every day. Therefore, when we learn to increase the amount of product obtained from that unit area, everyone will see that we are doing much better things than today.

Sustainable Soil Management in Çorum

Prof. Dr. Eşref Savaş Başcı, Vice Rector of Hitit University, stated that threats such as climate change, drought, and erosion are increasing the pressure on agricultural resources. Başcı mentioned that four thematic tables were established within the scope of the workshop, focusing on soil health and fertility, climate change and desertification, pastures and livestock, and the future of agriculture. He added that they aim to document Çorum's agricultural potential with scientific data. Emphasizing the need to protect soil and water resources, Başcı noted that the results obtained will be transformed into a comprehensive publication to guide regional production.
