· GıdaTarım

The Eskişehir Sugar Beet Growers' Cooperative calculated the cost per ton at 4,000 lira for the 2026 production period and requested the floor price be set at a minimum of 4,500 lira.
Rising Costs and Production Burden
As the 2026-2027 sugar beet purchasing campaign begins, Eskişehir Sugar Beet Growers' Cooperative Chairman Halil Ünal announced that the cooperative has entered its 94th purchasing season and drew attention to the sharp increases in input costs. Emphasizing that the rise in fertilizer, diesel, electricity, irrigation, and labor expenses has put producers under significant pressure, Ünal stated that they have conducted comprehensive field analyses. According to the data from the Eskişehir Sugar Beet Growers' Cooperative, the production cost for one ton of sugar beet reached 4,000 TL for the 2026 production period.
Floor Price Expectation and Demand
Stating that the determined floor price must be above the cost for producers to remain in the field and continue sugar beet cultivation, Halil Ünal shared the purchasing price expectation with the public. In line with the cooperative's calculations, it was requested that the 2026 sugar beet floor price be announced at a minimum of 4,500 TL per ton. Ünal expressed that the official price to be announced must definitely compensate for the increased costs and be announced at a level that protects the farmer's welfare.
