Within the scope of the 'Empowering Our Beekeepers, Valuing Our Honey Project,' financed by the General Directorate of Livestock of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, honey extractors were delivered to 92 beekeepers operating in Ordu. The distribution ceremony, held at the premises of the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, was attended by Ordu Governor Muammer Erol and protocol members. Akın Çiftçi, Chairman of the Ordu Beekeepers Association, stated that beekeeping requires intense labor and patience, and expressed that the provided equipment, with approximately 70% subsidy support, will facilitate on-site production and strengthen the technological infrastructure in the sector.

Ordu Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Bayram Ay, noted that producers working with traditional methods will be able to harvest faster and more effortlessly with semi-automatic machines. The project aims to improve hygiene conditions in honey production, deliver reliable products to consumers, and reduce the risk of occupational diseases by alleviating the physical workload of beekeepers. Provincial Director Ay conveyed that especially for producers engaged in migratory beekeeping, the honey extraction times will be significantly shortened with easier access to modern machines, and work accidents will be prevented.
Ali Demir, Chairman of the Turkish Beekeepers Association, emphasized that the support increase provided to beekeepers for bee colony support in 2026 has reached 80%, while this rate remains around 40% in other animal production sectors. Salih Çelik, General Director of Livestock, stated that honey is among the priority products in the agricultural production planning implemented in 2024, and for the first time, special support is being offered to migratory beekeepers.
