Sorghum-Sudan Grass Harvest Begins in Isparta with Subsidized Seeds

In Isparta, the harvest season has commenced for sorghum-sudan grass hybrids cultivated on 640 decares with a 75% subsidy under the TAKE Project.
Forage Support in Isparta Through the TAKE Project
The harvest season has begun for the sorghum-sudan grass hybrid cultivated in Isparta within the scope of the Project for Effective Utilization of Agricultural Lands. A total of 3,200 kilograms of seeds, procured with a 75% subsidy from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and a 25% contribution from producers, were distributed to 84 producers in the region. In line with the project, alternative forage crop production was carried out on a total of 640 decares in the districts of Merkez, Sütçüler, Eğirdir, Şarkikaraağaç, Yenişarbademli, and Yalvaç.
High Yield and Cost Advantage
According to information shared by the Isparta Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, this hybrid plant, which shows high resistance to drought conditions, can also be successfully grown as a second crop. The plant, yielding 8 to 12 tons per decare in the field, is expected to significantly reduce roughage costs for livestock operations due to its nutritious structure and easy digestibility. The directorate reported that the results obtained offer a strong alternative in animal nutrition.
