TÜRKYED Warns: Protecting Producers Means Protecting Consumers

Nihat Çelik, General President of Agricultural Production and Small Ruminant Breeders, called for the establishment of a balanced market model that considers both the producer's labor and the consumer's purchasing power against rising input costs and food inflation.

Call for a Fair Agricultural Market

Nihat Çelik, General President of Agricultural Production and Small Ruminant Breeders, urgently called for the establishment of a fair system where producers receive full compensation for their labor and consumers can access food at reasonable prices. Stating that the cost increases in the agricultural sector and food inflation cannot be considered independently, Çelik noted that the ultimate solution must be sought on common ground. Emphasizing market balance, TÜRKYED General President Nihat Çelik made the following assessment:

"We need an understanding that sees producers and consumers not as adversaries, but as two sides of the same table."

Planned Production and Cost Control

Stressing that input costs must be urgently lowered and planned production strengthened to preserve the sustainable structure of agriculture, Çelik demanded the elimination of unnecessary costs in the supply chain extending from the field to the table. Calling for stricter market inspections, TÜRKYED General President Nihat Çelik continued his remarks:

"If the producer incurs losses, production decreases; if production decreases, the consumer is forced to buy at a higher price. Therefore, protecting the producer also means protecting the consumer. We at TÜRKYED view this issue with this understanding. Our common ground is our table."
