Honey Harvest Conducted in Bayburt from 430 Hives This Season

The 2026 honey harvest from producer Kemal Bayraktar's 430-hive facility in Bayburt's Karşıgeçit Village was observed with the participation of the local protocol.

Honey Harvest in Karşıgeçit Village

The 2026 honey harvest season took place in Bayburt's Karşıgeçit Village. Harvest activities were followed on-site at the apiary, which houses 430 bee colonies, belonging to producer Kemal Bayraktar, who has been engaged in beekeeping for approximately 20 years. Bayburt Governor Mustafa Eldivan, who attended the program, inspected the production processes underway in the field and received technical information from officials. While the province's beekeeping potential was evaluated, highlighted by its rich flora, high-altitude pastures, and favorable natural vegetation, it was wished that the harvest season would be fruitful for the producers.

Efforts to Increase Capacity in Beekeeping

The Bayburt Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry continues its technical projects to enhance the quality of honey production in the region and ensure the sustainability of beekeeping activities. Within the scope of the field studies conducted, the aim is to improve the professional knowledge and operational capacity of beekeepers, increase the reliable supply of honey, and support producers. The program in Karşıgeçit Village was attended by Mayor Mete Memiş, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Colonel Fatih Aslan, Provincial Police Chief Barış Erkol, Provincial General Assembly Speaker Hüseyin Şahin, Provincial Special Administration Secretary General Hayrettin Koçyiğit, Bayburt Beekeepers Association President Uğur Vardar, and Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Ebubekir Köse.
