Agricultural Trade Between Russia and China Surges 34%

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that mutual agricultural product trade with China has increased by 34%, while tourist mobility rose by 43% in the first half of the year.
Significant Growth in Agricultural Trade
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. During the meeting, addressing trade developments between the two countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin publicly announced that mutual agricultural product trade had increased by 34%. In addition to this strong momentum in agricultural product shipments, Putin stated that tourist mobility between the two countries had also seen a 43% increase in the first half of the year, thanks to the visa-free travel agreement. These figures concretely demonstrate the rapid deepening of the flow of goods and services between the two nations.
Expanding Cooperation in Strategic Areas
Addressing economic relations at the summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin made the following statements:
"Our cooperation is developing successfully in all areas, including the economy. We are implementing major projects in the fields of energy, industry, space, transportation, and logistics."
Putin recalled that a Chinese container ship began its first regular voyage via the Northern Sea Route in mid-August. Stating that digital innovations, including artificial intelligence technologies, will contribute to the development of both countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin continued his remarks:
"If the Chinese side deems it possible and beneficial, we are ready to work together to make the visa-free travel agreement permanent."
