Harvest completed in Yozgat's 210-decare demonstration fields for domestic barley trials, with yields reaching up to 760 kilograms per decare.
Domestic Barley Varieties Tested in the Field
Harvesting has concluded for the domestic barley demonstrations conducted under the coordination of the Yozgat Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. The trials, established to introduce seeds developed by research institutes affiliated with the ministry and domestic seed companies, were implemented in 5 districts and 12 villages. In field studies carried out on 210 decares with a total of 14 farmers, 15 different barley varieties were meticulously monitored by technical personnel throughout the production season. The trials included registered varieties such as Anka06, Sayım40, Burakbey, Bozlak, Sinanbey, Asil, Misket, Tosunpaşa, Cacabey, and Kaşmir from the Ankara Central Research Institute of Field Crops, as well as Ayrancı and Keykubat seeds from the Bahri Dağdaş International Agricultural Research Institute. Additionally, Asur, Dörtköşe, and Sentoza varieties, registered by the private sector, were observed under farmer conditions.
Record Yield Levels and Recommendations
In the harvest operations conducted during the production season, yield values per decare varied between 400 kilograms and 760 kilograms. A statement from the Yozgat Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry noted that the regular and normal spring rainfall had a highly positive impact on the region's average yields. While the record yield of 760 kg/da was noted as the upper limit and not all varieties exhibited the same performance, suitable varieties were recommended to producers based on the success of the trials. The agricultural organization announced to the public that producers seeking detailed information about seeds that adapt well to regional conditions and are drought-resistant can apply to provincial and district directorates.
