Preparing to establish new feed factories in Diyarbakır and the Black Sea region, Sunar Yatirim is enhancing its global strength in the agricultural industry with industrial facility and solar power plant projects in Hungary.
Feed Investment in Diyarbakır and the Black Sea
Sunar Yatirim, operating in the agriculture-based industry, is increasing its capacity in feed production, a fundamental input for the livestock sector. Mustafa Nuri Çomu, Chairman and CEO of Sunar Yatirim, announced that they have officially started the $15 million new feed factory investment, for which they have completed the land process in the Diyarbakır Organized Industrial Zone. The group, aiming to strengthen regional production, is then continuing its preparations to establish a second feed facility in the Black Sea Region. Conveying the company's growth plans, Mustafa Nuri Çomu made the following statements:
'We aim to be a bigger player in the feed sector and will then start working on a second feed factory in the Black Sea Region.'
Renewable Energy and European Expansion
The company, aiming to meet the energy needs of its production facilities from sustainable sources, has accelerated its investments in Solar Power Plants in Adıyaman, Çankırı, İzmir, Antalya, and Eskişehir. The group plans to increase its installed solar power capacity to over 100 MW by the end of the year, generating all the electricity it consumes itself. Expanding its operations in the European market, the firm is establishing a new industrial facility in Hungary, following its trade network in Romania. Sharing details about the project, Mustafa Nuri Çomu made the following statement:
'We have an agriculture-based trading company in Romania. We are also carrying out a new industrial investment project in Hungary, where we will lay the foundations, to overcome customs walls and agricultural fund barriers in Europe. We will initially produce sorbitol and polyols here.'
Agricultural Biotechnology and High Added Value
Sunar Mısır, processing corn and starch derivatives with advanced technology, is implementing investments that reduce import dependency in non-food industrial raw materials. Chemical raw materials such as sodium gluconate, sorbitol, and maltitol, developed through the company's R&D center, are exported to over 100 countries. Drawing attention to the strategic importance of the products, Mustafa Nuri Çomu said:
'Our products currently reach over 100 countries worldwide. These products, which we are proud of, are strategic products that Chinese and European countries want to sell to Turkey and have even been subject to anti-dumping investigations.'
Touching upon the potential of corn processing, Mustafa Nuri Çomu made the following assessment:
'The starch and corn-based chemistry sector is a field with very open possibilities. According to studies, there is potential to produce over 4,000 different products from corn alone. We are currently producing only the visible part of the iceberg.'
Export Leadership in Corn Oil
Operating globally in the vegetable oil sector, Sunar holds market leadership in Turkey's corn oil exports. According to company data, the group, exporting over 50,000 tons of corn oil annually, accounts for 60% of Turkey's total corn oil exports, ranking third in the world. Pointing to the importance of raw material processing for value creation in foreign trade, Mustafa Nuri Çomu stated that corn, priced at $250 to $300 per ton, is transformed into value-added products ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 per ton, concluding his remarks as follows:
'This directly contributes to Turkey's export targets per kilogram.'
