500,000 Lettuce Seedlings Distributed to Farmers in Balıkesir

Within the scope of the TAKE Project in Balıkesir, 500,000 lettuce seedlings were delivered to producers with a 75% grant support, strengthening greenhouse farming activities.

A significant input support for producers was provided at a ceremony held on the campus grounds of the Balıkesir Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. Within the scope of the Project for Enhancing the Utilization of Agricultural Lands (TAKE), implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, a total of 500,000 lettuce seedlings were delivered to farmers. The distribution program was attended by Balıkesir Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Hüseyin Düzgün, deputy provincial directors, branch and district directors, technical personnel, and regional producers. Through the project, seedlings were delivered to producers with a 75% grant support.

The aim is to directly contribute to under-cover vegetable production by planting the seedlings, procured within the framework of the 'Greenhouses Supported with Lettuce Seedlings Project,' into the soil in greenhouses. Balıkesir Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Hüseyin Düzgün met with producers during the event and made evaluations on agricultural activities and production processes. It was emphasized that greenhouse vegetable farming holds an important place within Balıkesir's vast agricultural potential, and these supports are intended to alleviate producers' basic input costs and increase their production motivation.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's TAKE Project continues to bring idle or underutilized lands into production and increase agricultural productivity. Officials from the Balıkesir Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry stated that the support of 500,000 lettuce seedlings with a 75% subsidy will be immediately reflected in actual field production. The institution announced to the public that technical consultancy and similar agricultural incentive projects for farmers who bring land into production will continue uninterrupted, and the under-cover production potential in the region will be further developed.
