Selevir Irrigation Project to Water 38,000 Decares

The physical progress of the Selevir 3rd Section Irrigation Modernization Project in Çay district of Afyonkarahisar has reached 36%. Upon completion, the investment is expected to contribute 376 million Turkish Liras annually to the national economy.

Pipe Laying Continues in Selevir Project

The Selevir 3rd Section Irrigation Modernization Project, carried out by the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, is ongoing in the Çay district of Afyonkarahisar. In efforts to ensure uninterrupted water supply to producers and strengthen the closed irrigation infrastructure, 24,000 meters of HDPE pipe have been manufactured to date. The institution announced that pipe laying operations are progressing without interruption on-site, and the total physical realization rate for the modern network construction in the region has reached 36%.

Annual Contribution of 376 Million to Farmers

Regarding the benefits the investment will bring to regional agriculture, DSİ General Manager Mehmet Akif Balta made the following statement:

"A total of 38,520 decares of land will be irrigated more efficiently, irrigation costs will decrease, and an annual contribution of 376 million Turkish Liras will be made to the national economy. Our work is proceeding according to the planned schedule. The work will be completed by the end of 2027."

The project, which will bring a total of 38,520 decares of land under modern irrigation, aims to significantly reduce producers' input costs.
